Michael Stamey
Welcome to The SQHS Welding program web page. My goal is to give students a good understanding of a variety of trades relating to welding and the advanced manufacturing field. I want any student that completes my program to be able to land a position within any area of manufacturing and construction through knowledge and life skills gained here at SQHS. I like to stress the importance of knowing multiple trades and work to help students understand the link between welding and many different career options.
Students also have the opportunity to recieve their OSHA 10 certification as part of my program. this helps students get a leg up when entering the work force by reducing downtime for employers with job candidates already having documented and recognized safety training!
My background in welding has its bulk in commercial and industrial construction, and industrial maintenance. I worked as a Union Ironworker for many years, working out of local 384 in Knoxville, completing structural and reinforcing steel projects for local municipalities, TVA, and private contractors. I also worked in the manufacturing setting as an industrial maintenance mechanic, machinist, and production welder.
About me: I am married, and reside here in Monroe, county and have 3 kids that attend Monroe county schools. I am proud to say that I am an SQHS alumni.
