Mrs. Tina Benson
My name is Mrs. Tina Benson.  I have been teaching for a long time here in Monroe County!  This is my 29th year!  The first 26 years of my career, I was a third grade teacher alongside my very best friend, Donna Bowers.  I taught all subjects for many years, but I eventually found a passion for teaching Reading.  I will forever treasure my memories as a third grade teacher, but I am also LOVING my change to the high school level!  I am so excited to continue being a part of the faculty here at SQHS! It feels like home here.  I am teaching Personal Finance and have become very passionate about the curriculum!  I am also continuing to coach the Sequoyah cheerleaders this year.  Building relationships with my students has always been very important to me.  I feel like I am also able to do that with the students here at Sequoyah! We have AMAZING young people here at Sequoyah High School!  I love meeting new students that I never had the opportunity to teach at the intermediate level, and I also LOVE getting to teach some of my former students again in class as well!!!
I am a local girl, born and raised in Monroe County.  I am married to Randal Benson, who teaches math here at SQHS.  We have 3 awesome children.  Our oldest son is Trace.  He graduated from Sequoyah. He is 25 years old, works for Service Electric company, and is about to celebrate his one year wedding anniversary with my beautiful daughter in law Kenzie.  Our next son is Justice, who graduated from SQHS as well.  He is also a hard worker! He owns and manages a very successful lawncare business. Our youngest, our daughter Landria, graduated from SQHS and is a sophomore at Carson-Newman University studying nursing.  Together as a family we love camping, hiking, and going on Jeep rides.  We attend First Baptist Church here in Madisonville.
It's going to be an amazing year!  Feel free to reach out to me if you have concerns about your student at any time.
