Criminal Justice
Hi!
My name is James Liptrap. I am a new teacher at Sequoyah and I am very excited about the opportunity to work with our students. My back ground is in Corrections. I spent thirty years as a Correctional Peace Officer with the California Department of Corrections. During the time i worked everything from level four (highest security level) prisons to California's inmate firefighting program. I started in 1991 as a Correctional Officer and retired in 2021 as the Superintendent of the Youth Correction Firefighting Program.
I am married with two grown boys, two dogs and a very fat cat. I will be teaching a four semester program that includes Criminal Justice I at the introduction level and the advanced Criminal Justice 4 at the finale level. This program covers all aspect of the Criminal Justice system their independent roles and how they work collaboratively to protect the public and reform those convicted of crimes.
